La maladie Huntington
La maladie de Huntington (MH) a été décrite scientifiquement pour la première fois en 1872 par George Huntington, médecin américain. Les chorées, les signes plus visibles de la maladie, sont des séquences de mouvements involontaires dans plusieurs parties du corps (d'où l'ancienne appellation de danse de St-Guy).
Cette maladie orpheline est l’une des plus fréquentes des maladies rares puisque la prévalence des malades cliniquement identifiés est voisine de 10 pour 100.000, ce qui donne quand même le chiffre de près de 6000 sujets atteints en France.
